Nezaket EkiciDE/TR
Nezaket Ekici (born 1970 in Kırşehir) is an internationally renowned performance artist living and working in Berlin and Stuttgart. She studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and was a master student of Marina Abramović in performance at the HBK Braunschweig. Her works focus on social gender, religion, Turkish-German identity, art history, and architecture.
She has presented more than 300 performances and installations in over 70 countries on four continents. Ekici is a fellow of the Tarabya Cultural Academy Istanbul and the German Academy Rome Villa Massimo (Rome Prize), and recipient of the Paula Modersohn-Becker Art Prize.

Transmission/New York2020
In Transmission, Ekici explores the intersection between the real and virtual worlds through the visual language of the QR code. She constructs an oversized QR code measuring 2 × 2 metres by arranging black sculptural objects on a white platform — three-dimensional elements that come together to form a functional, machine-readable code, bringing a fragment of the digital world into tangible space.
The performance culminates when viewers are invited to scan the code with their smartphones: the link leads to a video, closing the loop between physical presence and digital participation. Ekici symbolically returns the audience to the virtual world, reflecting on the entanglement of our physical reality and digital existence. (Text: Dr. Andreas Dammertz)
