Mass Ornament2017

Single-channel video installation, surround sound7:12 min

Mass Ornament is a mass dance of solitary dancers composed of fragments of shared online videos of people dancing in their rooms. The dancers, moving together, each alone in front of their cameras and screens, seem to assert embodiment and publicness, in the face of their increasing decline.

“Natalie Bookchin’s video installation Mass Ornament choreographs hundreds of YouTube dance videos to create a dazzling artwork that also questions contemporary isolation and connection via screens, cameras and technology.” (KCET — Blur and Sharpen)
